The Village of Endless Gratitude is beyond comparison in Turkey and in the world. In this framework of a natural village of culture, arts and education and the amazing history and landscape of Anatolia, Turkey´s biggest encounter of culture and art took place for the second time between 3rd and 17th September 2011 in the Village of Endless Gratitude close to Çavuş village in the province of Hüyük, Konya.
Exhibitions of popular Turkish photographers and painters were be open during the whole festival. Famous television and cinema artists, film directors, authors, journalists, painters, sculptors, academicians and designers like Cemil İpekçi, Halil Ergün, Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Narlı and Ahmet Sever held speeches and discussions every day. Important contemporary Turkish films were presented in the presence of their directors and actors. After the films, there was an Anatolian music, dance and discussion program every night.
As a novelty in Turkey, a Land Art Symposium with Ilknur Sanal as curator took place during the festival. Another attraction was the construction of the 14 meters high seljukian “Door of Life” village gate. Another monumental piece of art was the Fountain of Gratitude, designed by sculptor Serap Gümüşoğlu, that was built up in the center of the village during the festival. A village market provided organic fruits, vegetables and local products during the festival. Participants were able to bath in the thermal waters of the old Roman Village Hamam.
The Village of Endless Gratitude is a Project of Mehmet Taşdiken, Author, Film Director and Founder of the famous French Street in Istanbul. It is is a symbol for his Gratitude to the land where he was born. The village is home to important Turkish and international artists, writers and scientists. A big part of them already bought their adobe village homes. The houses resemble the architecture of typical Anatolian villages with seljukian characteristics.
